FAQ

F.A.Q.

  • What is a dryer vent?

Your dryer vent (also known as dryer exhaust duct) is the duct work and/or hosing that runs from the dryer, through the wall(s), and to the vent hood located on the exterior of

the home (usually on a side wall or on the roof).

  • What is the dryer vent's function?

The dryer vent is a ventilation system that connects your dryer to the outside of the house. Your dryer blows hot air through your wet clothes to dry them, this hot air gets blown out of the house through the dryer vent, taking bits of lint with it.

  • Why is dryer vent cleaning important?

Dryer vent cleaning is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and safety of your dryer. Over time, lint, debris, and even small particles from clothing can accumulate in the vent, causing reduced airflow, longer drying times, and potential fire hazards.

  • How often should I have my dryer vent cleaned?

It is recommended to have your dryer vent professionally cleaned at least once a year. However, if you notice any signs of reduced performance or suspect blockages, consider having it cleaned more frequently.

  • What are the signs that my dryer vent needs cleaning?

Signs that your dryer vent needs cleaning include longer drying times, clothes that are still damp after a cycle, a musty odor in your laundry area, excessive heat buildup in the laundry room, and visible lint around the dryer vent opening.

  • Can I clean the dryer vent myself?

While some homeowners attempt to clean their dryer vents, it is usually best to hire a professional service. DIY cleaning can be risky and may not effectively remove all the debris, potentially leading to further issues.

  • Does the technician come inside my home to cleanmy dryer vent?

The dryer vent can be cleaned from outside the house but it is much more effective if cleaned from the inside. If you prefer our technician not come inside please let us know and we will clean your vent from the outside.

  • How long does a dryer vent cleaning service take?

The duration of a dryer vent cleaning service can vary depending on the complexity of the system and the amount of lint buildup present. Generally, it takes between 1 to 2 hours for a professional technician to complete the job.

  • Does dryer vent cleaning save energy?

Yes, dryer vent cleaning can significantly improve your dryer’s energy efficiency. A clean vent system allows hot, moist air to escape freely, reducing drying times and saving energy and money on your utility bills.

  • Is dryer vent cleaning necessary if I clean the lint filter regularly?

Yes, even if you clean the lint filter after each load, small particles can still pass through

and accumulate in the vent. Cleaning the lint filter is essential, but it does not replace

the need for a thorough dryer vent cleaning.

  • Can a clogged dryer vent be a fire hazard?

Absolutely. A clogged dryer vent can restrict airflow and cause the dryer to overheat, leading to a potential fire hazard. Lint is highly flammable, and in the presence of heat, it can ignite, causing a fire that can quickly spread.

  • How much does dryer vent cleaning typically cost?

The cost of dryer vent cleaning varies based on factors like location, complexity, and the length of the vent. On average, it can range from $149 to $199 for residential service. However, the cost is minimal compared to the potential risks of neglecting this maintenance.

  • Are there any benefits of dryer vent cleaning other than safety?

Yes, apart from safety, dryer vent cleaning offers several benefits. It helps extend the life of your dryer, improves its efficiency, reduces energy consumption, and prevents costly repairs down the line.
